Best Aftermarket Sound System

After I took down the Christmas layout I realized how boring my Lionel 8480 Union Pacific F3 (hope I don’t get sued for writing UP and owning an unlicensed product) looks sitting on the shelf. So I decided after 20 years unrun I ran it for about an hour this Christmas and now I want to upgrade with sound a new E-unit and LED consistant voltage lighting. I ordered the TA soudios Railsounds kit but now I’ve been reading about the QSI since I want to add a QSI reversing unit in place of the my old E-unit. Who makes the best aftermarket sound system? Did I go the best route? thanks…

I buy sound only Railsounds units from Digital Dynamics at a cost of $89 each. They are easy to install and sound better than PS1 and even some PS2 systems.
When replacing a sound system take a bit of time and pay attention to speaker baffeling.

I have been very happy with my dealings with TAStudios. I havent delt with QSI or Digital Dynamics, but I have heard only good things bout them aswell. As far as one being better than the other, or one being the best, I cant say. I am happy with what I got from TAStudios though.

I have contacted TAS about an upgrade for 2 locos. K-Line B6s and a Lionel PRR Consolidation, the one with only 2 chuffs pre revolution. I may start out with the swithcher to see how it goes with installation. The speed control on the K-Line unit is noticeably different than my other Lionel TMCC locos. Any advice?

QSI dealer. David Roxin lickness2002@yahoo.com Just got an ACRU-E which replaces the EUnit in postwar and AC motored engiens. Have not had time to install. They make a DCRU-E too.

Thanks. I need to look at the TAS installation manual online to see how difficult this will be for me.

I’m using a lot of Digital Dynamics and it is great [and cheaper].

However, I do think TAS could do a better job with the instruction book. My instructions indicated color coded wires but the actual unit used all black wires.

Ed over at Digital Dynamics is very good about helping with problems over the phone.
