At $540, it should be the best you ever saw on ebay.

In my opinion, the best diner on eBay is a telephone! I have gotten 2, one for each of my layouts. Search “diner telephone” or “diner phone” and see what I mean. They usually sell in the $30.-$50. range. Sized right for O or S. Joe

It’s is a nice looking diner, but at that price I wonder if I couldn’t have one custom built and a better looking model for less money. It’s a fairly basic model. Boxy windows, a porthole window door, the rest is currogated siding topped with a roof ( You could use a roof from a basket case baby madison car.) I’ll have to go looking for the telephone diner. I’m not familiar with it. If I were looking for a roadside diner I’d pick the K-line model. There’s an Ice cream shop here in Cincinnati (Oakley suburb) that’s housed in a NYC stainless steel diner.

That definetly is a nice-looking diner! A bit pricey formy budget, but still very nice looking.

I really like that airport. That’s the kind of thing that would fit in very well on my layout.

I gotta say I like that diner, too! It has been at $ 760.00 all morning, I can’t wait to see the ending price!! [:D] I have a K-line diner, & I remember those phone diners, too. They used to be in the Spencer Gift stores at the malls quite a few yrs. ago. Thanks, John

Definately a cool diner! [:D] But at anything close to that price I would just make one myself…probably use roof flashing. The airport is real cool too.[:D]

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!! $1631.00 for the diner, please someone tell me what is so special, what is the history on this toy company?? Regards Steve

There are people who collect diner-related memorabilia–genuine artifacts of Americana–just as there are people who collect toy trains. So it’s not terribly surprising that a nicely done piece would command a high price, especially if it’s somewhat rare.

All old original as well as new production Smith-Miller items are very desirable pieces. Diners regularly sell in the $1,000 + range. A Smith-Miller Rosie’s Diner Truck Stop sold at auction last summer for $1,100. However, the above auction was remarkable because the diner was in its original box.
