I agree with online businesses that Glenn has listed above.

Except for the occasional kit on eBay, I only buy my locomotives online. Pretty much everything else I get from my LHS. I can view and inspect the product, delivery is prompt, and there’s no shipping cost. (Although, it’s probably figured into the price somehow.) I know that for some folks, an LHS is not always convenient or accessible, and they have to reply on either catalog or online businesses to purchase their supplies from.

I try to buy everything at my LHS, but I still do a lot of browsing. (Then, I order it through the LHS. He gives me a discount, and there’s no shipping. Great for small things.)
