Bethgon Coalporters

Guys,

I’m trying to decide what company to buy some Bethgon Coalporters from. They will be for my HO scale BNSF and UP trains. I don’t know which one is the best for my buck.

Please help

For other: please list manufactor

A roaring fire, a snifter of Courvossier, some Cole Porter on the stereo,oh,excuse me, wrong Cole Porter! Your fancy schmancy coal cars are too modern for me!!![:-,][(-D]

AH, funny guy[:D]

walthers and other

Okay guys, I need more help on this! Plus, I need to know what is the “other” company that makes Bethgon Coalporters? Or is the “other” some other car. It’s my pole and I’m confused about the “others”.

Man, you guys really don’t like polls. Come on, I need input.

you can get a five pack of coal porters with load from trainworld for $49 http://www.trainworld1.com/pdfs/TW1_06MRR2.pdf

i run the walthers bethgon’s with metal wheelsets added (Kaydee and Proto)

I have sets of them from LBF and Walthers. I’ll give the Walthers the edge in quality but I can’t complain too loudly about the LBFs. Add #5s and your favorite wheelsets. You can get loads for either or roll your own.

KATO…KATO…DID I MENTION KATO [8D]

I didn’t think about Kato. Do they have Coalporters in HO scale?

No, Kato only does Bethgons in N. As for HO ones, I have 6 Walthers ones in CSX Confederate Gray, and I love them! Heavy (even when empty!) and I haven’t got them to derail once. I’ve heard good things about the Athearn RTR Bethgons, too.

wathers are great

perhaps a set from each manufacturer? if $$ is a problem get the Athearns if not get walthers

I have 6 sets of walthers and I like them but I want to see what others think just incase I decide to buy something else. For example: Is Athearn worth it by getting one less car for more money but you get the coal load? I want to know what others think.
