On May 22nd. Of this year I purchased 2 lighting kits from http://www.internettrains.com/merchant2/ After 3 weeks they sent me an email stating that the items were back ordered.
OK, why did they not let me know sooner? Well to make a long story short,
I cancelled the order, yet have still not received my refund! ( I paid with PAYPAL)
So it should be a easy matter to refund that way also! Has anyone else had difficulty with that company? And, what was the outcome? I am beginning to think I will not see my money again! As some of you know, I try to take the high road, but this is getting frustrating!!!

I bought something from them once and cancelled. They had not charged my credit card because they had not shipped. No problem. I think a phone call would be in order. They were very nice on the phone to me.
I have called them 3 times Chip, Friday was the second, and they told me I was getting a email, this morning they said order was canceled, but they would be happy to look into the matter!!! Gosh, I hope I never run a business like that!

I agree you should try and call them first to try and resolve the problem. If that does not work you can go to Paypal’s web site and file a complaint and request a refund. You can also contact your credit card company and request a “charge back” and get your money back that way. You do have to wait at least 45 days to that though.
I placed an order for over $300. with them in back in March. Over a period of three weeks I went round and round with them substituting items because they didn’t have items I ordered. Finally I cancelled the order and placed the same order with Discount Trains Online.
In April I got an Email from Internet trains saying they revamped their online system to give up to date information.
Since they supposedily fixed their system I placed an order just last Tuesday. I did get an email saying they got my order but I have not heard another thing from them yet. If I don’t hear something from them by the end of the week I’ll be cancelling this order also.
This will likely be the last time I deal with them. There are too many other companies out there that give better service for the same price or better.

Yes they are notortiously slow and non-responsive , I have ordered from them in the past and did eventually get what I ordered, they just don’t seem to understand customer satisfaction or customer service.
Before you all get in a tizzie - it has been pointed out so many times, these guys don’t stock much and have to orfer your item in before they can ship. If you keep up on the forums you would know this before ordering.
What folks need to beware of is any advertising that states any company has “thousands” of anything in stock. What they have is ACCESS to “thousands” of products from the large distributors, just like any LHS. I’ll bet if you tried, as long as the item is in stock at a large distributor, your LHS can get it to you faster than an internet site (maybe even at a competitive price) and you won’t have to pay shipping and you will know where your money is. I understand about living in areas with no LHS as I used to live in such an area, but this topic does seem to come up fairly often in the short time that I’ve been visting (“Lurking???”) these forums.
I will add my name to the list of people who do not do business with them anymore. I ordered from them 3 times a few years ago and had trouble with the order 2 of the 3 times. It was, of course the fault of somebody else that they did not have, or could not get what I ordered. I even cancelled part of one order and they shipped it to about 3 weeks later…
I agree wholeheartedly with Grandson of Sam, I try to support my LHS as often as possible. What many times appears to be a great deal online may cost more in the long run than getting it through your LHS. I am lucky that my local store gives regular customers a discount. This month he is having an Anniversary sale and has given my 20% off on some items.
I’ve heard a lot about Internettrain.com in the past year. I’m putting the heat on someone else for a change. Three months ago I ordered 4 Bachmann ore cars through the LHS. They go through Walther’s. The items are marked as being in stock and were ordered that day. This morning, June 27th, the LHS calls me and tells me they just came in.
Add me to the list ordered may 31st got it today partial shipment I cancelled the other part I will be contacting paypal in 3 days cause thats when they said it would show up on my account.
I have been ordering from them for years with NO PROBLEMS. If you have a question send them an e-mail with the specifics. They are very courteous and helpful on the phone as well. Don’t just sit there and moan. You just have take the bull by the tail and face the situation.

Some threads get buried quickly, Believe me, if I had seen coments about their lack of stock, I would have ordered from someone else!

I have sent three emails, and phoned twice! They were polite, but unhelpful!
On friday June 23rd. I called to find out the status of my refund (I had paid with Pay Pal) as I had canceled the order the previous week!
I was told that I would get an email that day. Here it is June 28th. and no email and no refund! As I stated in the original post, I try never to bad mouth anyone.
I have learned from 20 years experiance owning my plumbing company, that you should try to avoid bad mouthing the competition or anyone else!
I was just trying to find out if anyone here had dealt with this company!
SO!! I did take the bull by the tail, AND GOT THE HORNS [:-^]
Anyway, It will eventualy work itself out.
