Hey guys, just wanted to let you no that I would use some caution about buying thing off ebay from nscletrains. I won 4 centerbeam cars on 12/20 and still have not recived them and have not got any email from the seller. Im a little annoyed with this. Happy and safe modeling!
Ebay is full of this. Take away the word this and ‘er’ and you can sum it up
Centerbeams can be bought at many stores and you won’t have any issues
Yes I know but these were only $30 total and there like 20 at the LHS each
I think someone else is “full of this”.
trainfreek, at least spell the alleged offenders name correctly.
I would wait to panic…since the 20th there have been two holidays, several pseudo-holidays, lots of mail moving, and a day the PO was closed in memory of President Ford. Patience…
I’d give it a few more days trainfreek92. Some sellers don’t get in any hurry, especially around the holiday season. I won a couple of items on December 24th and finally got an e-mail from the seller yesterday (January 3d) telling me that they would soon be shipped out to me, but of course I can understand this. However. If it had been me that you had bought or won from, you would probably already have your items no matter if it was close to Christmas, New Years or otherwise… Tracklayer
As for Vail & Southwestern RR. The quote at the bottom of your replies comes from the 1986 movie “Aliens” if I’m not mistaken.
This transaction has taken place over the busiest time of the year for shipping, people traveling, and as been noted some really bad weather. Maybe the seller is away visiting family, or has family visiting him keeping him busy with holiday duties, etc. Maybe he’s sick or otherwise incapacitated. Wait for seveal more days and send a message.
Not quite as bad as an auction I held some years ago. It ended on a Friday, got a message from the buyer on Monday wondering where his item was!
I got anxious about another buyer one time, hadn’t heard from him in two weeks, no message, no payment. When he did reply he said he lives quite far out of town and only goes there every once in a while, and was waiting until he had to go to pick up the money order to pay for the auction. So he did have a reason for being slow. Really like PayPal these days!
Patience is a virtue that a lot of people seem to lack!
This Ebay crap is now getting STUPID. There should be a new rule around here. If you buy something off of Ebay and you haven’t received your item 1 month from the day you PAYED for your item then post here. Until then sit by your mail box and stop bashing people. For the record nscletrains is a fairly new Ebayer, has 21 transactions and has 100% feedback so far. I’d buy from them without fear of being ripped off. [soapbox]
YAY…another Ebay thread. Thanks for the info and thanks for making my Model Railroading experience a better one…nope…wait…Ebay threads suck and dont really belong on this forum.

IMHO, these eBay threads are a waste of space. I know, just don’t read them. But when they start constituting such a large percentage of threads, it doesn’t leave much else.
Your business transactions are your business, not mine. eBay sellers are so many and so transient that pinning potentially slanderous labels on any given one will not help anyone, anywhere. eBay gives provides you certain protections; exercise them. For those situations where you may not be protected, it’s on you to know what you’re getting into, and to assume the risks accordingly.
Just my opinion, of course. I know others enjoy the slugfest that inevitably follows one of these posts.
I get asked all the time why I don’t sell on eBay…all of these types of threads contain part of the reason for why I don’t want to mess with it.
Apparently I’m more patient that I give myself credit for: here’s a true story.
The one time (if I recall) that I’ve ever given negative feedback…I gave a guy TWO MONTHS (not 2 weeks…) two months to ship what I bought from him. I thought that was enough patience, so I left negative feedback. Swear to God, the item arrived in the mail the very next day! Great timing. Felt bad about not waiting one more day, but the seller agreed that he deserved it.
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed it’s only the Canadians that complain about the ebay threads ?..

I’m as American as apple pie and I’m getting pretty sick of the eBay threads too. No offense to you personally, but as a general trend this is disturbing, especially now that we seem to be using people’s names.
That may be, but it has been used to refer to the somewhat warm weather in the desert southwest for much longer than that, I’m sure.
Ouch!. Still, I am very happy to read that the other party accepted his role in the whole to-do. That must have made you feel even worse, although justified.
Have you dealt with him/her again?
No, the item he was selling was a one-of-a-kind deal, once I got it, no need to deal with him again. We were both real cordial about it. It wasn’t a train related item. AND it was only about a 5 dollar item with 4 dollars shipping or something, so it wasn’t something to get real stressed about, except that is was an item that I really wanted.

Having spent a good portion of my life in Arizona, I can assure you, that phrase was in use decades, if not a century, before that film was made.

Have you tried to contact the seller, by sending him an email and asking why the delay? I had and instance where I hadn’t heard anything from the seller, for more than two weeks. Two weekend in that time period. Sent him a message from the ebay listing site and received an answer the next day. He had a good excuse, IMO. Said his computer crashed and took him a couple of days to get it working and then he had to reconstruct his ebay files. I received the item two days later. Instead of Parcel Post, he sent it Priority Mail, with Insurance. I know he lost money on the shipping because it was heavy, and he only charged me $5 shipping.
