I have a Model Power N scale Pacific locomative. It has a bit of a slipping problem hauling a consist up my 2% grades. Therefore, I want to apply some Bullfrog Snot to a set of drivers. My question is: which set of drivers should the BF Snot go on; the rear set, the middle set, or the front set? I have two 0-8-0’s with traction tires and they are on the rear set of drivers. However, I have been told that this is not the best arrangement to accomodate the extra torquing induced by the increased traction.
I put my “Snot” on the Geared axle as that’s where the power is generated. From there the side rods do the rest.
That green stuff will pull the rails up. Well almost.[:-^]
I place my BFS on the drivers closest to the cab, or the ones forward of that axle, either/or. Practically, it should not make a difference on which set the BFS is applied, although you could maybe make a case that it is best applied to the driver set with the heftiest (longest lasting) pins. And that would be the set linked to the main rod.
But I haven’t…dunno, just wanted to do it my way.
