Better yet, there is live video stream coverage:

The local amateur radio repeater has occasional reports:

As of now, the 4018 has not progressed due to priority freight traffic but reportedly will move shortly. Ironically, it only has to travel on UP rails for six miles to TRE Junction. This is a ‘hospital’ train move at 10MPH.
We’re told the rear wheelset of the centipede tender had to be shimmed (laterally) to get it out of the Fair Park lead track, and the shims are now being removed. Move will supposedly start ‘in earnest’ as soon as that’s done.
If the picture freezes (as it seems to do fairly often) refresh the page.
UPDATE - the consist is just north of Dallas Union Station for a crew change and mechanical inspection (about to enter TRE trackage). Since they don’t want to move after sunset, it will have to stay overnight at the BNSF or DGNO yard in Irving.
I hope there are videos on youtube.
So far I’ve found two videos of the Dallas to Irving move:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNOnt5VdrVI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5vZ99D8nW0
No further info on the rest of the move, but it has to happen during daylight at a low activity time on the BNSF Madill sub.
Was this the one that UP is going to attempt to reactivate?
No, you’re thinking of 4014 in Pomona, CA (for now). This was just a “simple” museum move from Dallas to Frisco.
It is a bit confusing with two Big Boys suddenly “in the news” and both of them being “moved”. The 4018 is in Texas and being moved to a new museum site. The 4014 has been re-acquired by Union Pacific and is to be moved from California to the U.P. steam shops in Cheyenne for refurbishment to working condition.
Ok. Guess I’ll wait for news on the 4014. Thanks.
