Hi I’m trying to model the Big Eagle Railroad in West Virginia but it seems there isn’t a lot of information out there. Does anybody know anything about it. It was formerly the Winifrede Railroad. Thanks in advance [:)]
For a vertical view of facilities, Mapquest (Winifrede WV) takes you right to it.
Winifrede itself isn’t even a wide spot on the road, about half way from the colliery loadout to the barge-loading facility on the Kanawha river. The loadout looks like something that would compress nicely onto a shelf, while the barge facility is also relatively compact.
According to the business data I found the railroad only has 3 employees and exists only to move coal from the loadout to the barge loading facility. It’s only about ten miles long, if that.
