Big Mo was a traveling ‘O’ gauge layout. It was in Cleveland about 8 years ago. Does anyone know if it is still around? or how to contact the owner?
Tom, that rig was for sale a couple of years ago or so. It was form over in Cochranton Pa. Not sure if I spelled it right, but I just ran across the write up again the other day while searching through old issues of the 2 magazines. It’s probably sold now. I remember the layout in that trailer & bought one of those first special edition cars he was selling. I first saw that at The Convention Center in Cleveland at train shows in the early or mid 90s.
Thanks, John
PS : It’s in run# 210 Oct. 2005 (OGR) page 10
It was up for auction on E-Bay last Fall, price was around $70K. MTH dropped sponsorship a while back (like Lionel did before them) and I think GATS may have been the last sponsor. I don’t know if it actually sold or not.
The owner was a fellow named Harry (last name escapes me), who died in the last year or so. His wife was at York in October with Big Mo on display near the grandstand trying to find a buyer. I don’t know whether she succeeded or not. Hopefully someone will find it attractive as a display or layout, “ready to run,” and I mean run :).
Harry’s last name was Turner. RFD-TV recently showed a TM video about Harry. Roadside America was on the program as well.
Big Mo is still for sale as of a couple of weeks ago. A buddy of mine says Mr. Turner’s widow was shopping it at the WGH show in Pittsburgh. The price is still $70K for the entire rig.
Wondering if any up date on Big Mo, I recently purchased the 30-50004 model.

There was an ad in the TCA directory I received a few weeks back.
It would seem to still be for sale. Asking price is $67,250 for Big Mo alone, $73,250 if you also want the pick up truck that was used to pull it.
Slightly out of my price and space ranges! ![]()
