Big steam and bigger mountains

Here’s one from a couple years ago, click the thumbnail for more info!

“O.S. Banff, Extra 2816 West.” Wonderful.

Great picture. Really great you printed it in B/W.

Bruce

Yeah, I thought it popped way better.

Wow, only one comment? It’s the quality, isn’t it?? You hate me because I didn’t shoot digital!! [:'(]

We hate you because you only took a photo instead of shooting a video.

Funny you say that…

…Just looking at the sizable mountains behind the train, one can wonder how the surveyors got up and over it…perhaps part of it was, through it. And maybe a break in the mountain to allow passage thru along side of a river. And of course, it’s a nice B/W photo.

It’s obviously a good shot. There’s interest in the train, the background, the plows and obviously that salt and pepper smoke/steam plume. It seems a little soft to me, but that’s probably just the scan since it was a film shot. It’s also a little contrasty for my tastes…but it’s probably the same as our differing views on saturation in color shots.

Thats a lot of smoke for an oil burner, or are they burning tires? Now isn’t that a far better looking locomotive than that “royal” hudson thing. I only see one plow.

OK, now we like you once again.

Very nice video.

Rich

Was that Eleanor Roosevelt waving from the Observation Car as the train backed in?[:D]

They went around them [;)]

I like both the streamlined and non-streamlined Hudsons! They both have a lot of charm.

They second plow’s behind the first one, you can see it a little bit looking at the cupolas.
