I think I got the solution, and it’s kind of weird. I checked my profile and verified that I had the box checked for email notifications for replies to a post. Unchecked the box and then clicked on save changes. Logged out and came back after about an hour (lunch). Logged in and went to my profile and then put a checkmark in the receive email notifications, and saved the changes. Went offline again for a short while. Then went back online. Opened my email client and lo and behold, I got a whole bunch of notifications, but only going back to May 6 (2 days ago). We’ll see if this sticks or not.
Others that are still having a problem might want to try this little dance.
Question: I may have spoken too soon. Does anybody know how frequently the email notifications are sent out? Immediately, hourly, whatever? I’ve made a couple of posts since I started this thread that I know have gotten replies and I’ve received nothing in email. For example, I have not yet received notifications of the above replies in this thread. It’s enough to drive a man to drink (Mr. Daniel’s fine stuff, if you please).
Okay, I guess, but I seem to remember getting notices within a couple of hours, and it hasn’t happened this time. Maybe I jinxed it (shoulda thrown some salt over my left shoulder and kept my fingers crossed). I’m about ready to give it up as a lost cause (getting email notifications).
I tried that dance last month and it did not work at the time. This morning (about 10:30 AM) when I checked my e-mail I got a notice. See quote, below, from my last entry on the last thread that you started (Re: Email notification stopped? - 5/3 update).
About an hour later I got another 15 e-notices about threads I had selected for notification. Nothing since!! I’ll go and click on some more threads to see if I get more e-notices.
That’s not the only “dance” that goes on here. It just took me about 4 times logging on and off to be able to stay logged on to post. Also, I often find I cannot access this forum at all as all I can get is “errors” and “timeouts”. I then find that when I am able to get back on that there have been no posts on this forum for three hours or more. In my opinion (which is NEVER humble) the forum software is poor and should be replaced. Now, I am sure someone will answer this post with “I never have a problem and everything here is the best in the world” but that is just not true.
I have had the first problem you mention happen to me a couple of times. To be fair I don’t think it’s totally the forum software’s fault that happens, or it would happen all the time. This sounds more like a networking problem. Or, the geeks may be doing system maintenance at Kalmbach.
As to the second problem, have you flushed your browser’s cache and reloading the page anew? Some browsers, to save time, go first to their cache for a page requested. This is a behavior that may be changeable for the browser you are using.
