These photos in the Fall 04 issue are fascinating. I was never real sure of where Bull Ring Yard was vs Cornfield Yard until I saw these photos.
Pages 42-43: The footbridge #13 lasted until the late 1970s or early 1980s (and it took a bit of nerve to walk on it…it was well worn by then). There are still some track remnants of the line that swung across Spring Street and then over to Main Street, but they end near the #11 symbol in the photo.
Near the Spring Street crossing there is an uneven shaped building with a tank on the roof. The siding next to it appears out of use…and remnants of it are still there, out of use, in 2004! The side street it crosses is called Llewellyn Ave…
Today, roughly near the #6, there is a sign posted by LA County with an artist’s rendering of a “Cornfield Park” to be built on the site. It lists a 2006 opening date.
