Birthday Layout

Today is my young brother’s 16th birthday. And on a nice warm (moreso hot) morning here in Houston I went ahead and constructed him a layouton the floor, more like concrete central for now since the room isnt finished yet. Here are the pics of the layout I made for him:

All done on O-27 track and switches, and there are a few PW cars on there too. I only had to cut to fit one custom section of track to fit on the opposite end, which I did with a hacksaw since I dont have a dremel tool. He likes the layout, and it should give my brother lots of operating possibilities! [:)]

Yeh Chris, I think I have seen those switches before. Very nice of you to provide this for him.

Nice Job! I hope your brother appreciates your efforts.

Nice job[:)]

Chris,

If you are in Houston you might want to visit the HTOS (Houston Template Operator Society) new location in Memorial City mall. We will have the large portable layout (up to 7 trains) set up this weekend 1-5 both Saturday and Sunday. We are not usually open on Sundays but the Memorial City Mall is having a big Memorial day extravaganza with military equipment, carnival, and WWII airplane flyover.

Chris - Nice layout, including reversing loop, and functional train building and transfer activities.

Good job

very nice [^] I bat your brother will enjoy it… who wouldn’t?

Chris- Nice layout for your Brother. The Chief would like one for his shortline carpet railroad![;)][:)][:o)] You & Spanky can set up your own layout construction firm.[8D][;)] Take Care.

I wish my brother would do somthing like that for me… but he is 9… 4 years younger than me…

Super layout Chris! Nice one, looks like a lot of fun to play with.

Thanks for the compliments guys! I thought it was a really cool layout as well once I was done putting it together. Earlier tonight my bro decided to expand it by putting two more sidings branching off the end of the layout, so that way he was able to add his passenger cars to the lineup. I wired some of the controllers to the switches so that he wont have to move that much but I told him that he still will have to get up and do some switching whenever he wants to back into the sidings and change cars around. I think this layout will keep him occupied for quite awhile!

Probably sometime today we will visit the hobby shop here and see about getting some more bumpers, and probably another freight car as well. On alot of the older PW cars that are on the layout they still have the old plastic trucks so i will need to work on replacing those with diecast trucks so that they can track and uncouple better.

Very very nice work!!
And Over all nice present for your brother.
Tell us what he thing about!
Andre.
