No union should ever get a raise larger then the people on Social Security get. Their cost C.O.L. is no more than anyone else.

What is the difference between a union worker getting a raise versus an official in the office? Should they also not get a raise more than someone on Social Security? That is a crazy idea. It shouldn’t matter. The market forces should dictate what and how much of a raise can be given. Also, remember officials hire workers who then join the closed shop union. If the company is responsible hiring a quality driven workforce then a satisfactory raise to retain the employee is a worthwhile investment.

Robert Vandoren, your Fox News theories are what is keeping most people underpaid. It sucks you didn’t get 3% but don’t criticize workers who are never home. That 3% is minor for our sacrifices

I got a whopping 1.7% raise on my Military Retirement and SSA this year! Of course, it is computed by the ridiculous CPI COL increases, which don’t factor in the reductions in quantity (toilet paper: -23%/roll; tuna fish: -37.5%/standard can – hidden increases). The “shopping basket” is not realistic. No, I don’t want to join a union.
