I am thinking about purchasing a BLI 2-6-6-4, however I have a concern on the minimum radius. My layout has mostly 22" radius curves but there is one where the radius is 21". Will it work on this or will it derail constantly. The other question that I have is what is the minimum turnout frog that it will handle.

In the reviews I read, the BLI “A” traveled back and forth through #4 switches without derailing. And around 18" radius curves if I remember correctly. She is a sure-footed tracker.
As for the curves, all I have to say is the track better be exactly aligned, with no kinks in the rail. For the locomotive, I just bought a BLI Hudson. I love the locomotive, and it is very high quality, but somehow I pulled the wiring harness in two, and have been waiting for nearly 3 weeks to get a new one from BLI.
I have the class a i have to tell you that it will run around 18 in radius the only thing you have to watch is the overhang on the cab,so if your tight corner has close scenery you need to watch out .I have had mine allmost a year and it performs exceptionally well the performance is outstanding.I have a fairly long grade I believe it is 2% and it is 12 ft.to the summit the class a will pull everything i got and never break a sweat. You won’t be disapointed in this engine. {Bli’s hudson is a different story all togeather I have the original and the new version both have tracking problems.I think the weight distribution is off center the engine is to heavy in the rear and it causes the front pilot to rise and puts the engine on a bind in curves}Just my opinion. Hope the info helps,if your loking for a big articulated life likes 2-8-8-2 is out or will be out shortly with factory qsi sound.I don’t have one one yet but will by Chritmas.PS.I have all #6 switches it has no problem with any of them.
Answering your question concerning the BROADWAY LIMITED N&W class 2-6-6-4 Steam Locomotive minimum radius turn that the engine can handle.
While this class can make a tighter radius turn at slow smooth speed such as 18 inch radius. It will not make it every time. The manufacture recommends 22" inch radius turns as their purposed minimum. It should work on your layout where you have a 21 inch turn. Anything less than that, I would state you will have to rebuild the layout to allow better operation to meet the manufactures standards. Though, no one enjoys rebuilding a perfect layout.
I believe you will be very impressed with this locomotive. It actually hauls better than the TRIX and Marklin Big Boy and the sound is just really to cool. You might want to install the smoke unit too as these engines have brought the popular QSI sound system to HO that hasbeen available to O scale locomotives forseveral years. BUY ONE…You’ll enjoy it.These Broadway Limited Engines are SUPERB.
The BLI Class A oughta be outstanding, they were named MR Product of the year.

Yeah, I paid a lot more too, but still less than Walther’s list. I just got a flier in the mail from Standard Hobby Supply that they too are selling the BLI “A” for $240. I think that I will need a matched pair, provided the “Old Hag” will let me have the $240!! She tried to keep the flier away from me after she got the mail just because of the pictures on the cover!! They have a number of the other BLI locos a lot cheaper in this same flier too, so maybe the T-1 isn’t out of the question either…
What this really sucks for is the people who just bought it for $424 (typical of what what they used to go for) a few days right before finding out some dealers are blowing them out!
