No, they have a stealth series.
Can’t help with that one other than repeating what I could read. MR magazine had a write up on it along with all the other DCC systems last year.
I know nothing about Bachmann’s DCC system, but I can say that BLI offers
its locomotives both with and without sound and DCC. The line without
sound is called the “Stealth” series–for obvious reasons. To find out more,
go to: http://www.broadway-limited.com/ This is a great website and
will answer all your BLI-related questions.
I prefer BLI over Bachmann.
I did own a few Heavy mountains from Bachmann and thought they were well done, but did not have what it took to pull versus the BLI M1 mountains that aready come with sound for slightly more at the time.
waltersrails,
Are you referring to their locomotives or their DCC system?
Tom
The bachmann DCC system is a bit sub par compared to other systems. It only lets you run 10 locomotives at a time, and is rated at roughly 1 amp. If you have a small layout, I guess it’d be a good way to go.
Jonathon,
Correction: With the Bachmann, you can “store” 9 DCC addresses, run one DC locomotive, but only run 2-3 locomotives at a time. IMO, I’d consider the Bachmann a “par” DCC system - i.e. average. You still have 8 usable sound functions with the E-Z Command. You just don’t have access to the CVs.
Tom
No.
1.They come DC only (no sound).
2. DCC/DC/Sound for about $100 more
It’s a beginners system.
Main benefit is some Bachmann engines with pre installed DCC - no Sound- . One limitation is running more than one engines @ same time, but Main limitation is upgrades.
Before you buy the Bachmann DCC ssystem, look at the new North Coast Engineering (NCE) starter sysstem. For about $150.00 or so you will get a “full system” not just part of one. If your local shops can’t get it use the ones lidted in the mags.
thank you for the replys so bachmann systems do have sound features in the dcc system?
No.
ok thank you for the replys they have been very helpful.
