BLI C30-7

If your thinking of buying one, do it now!!

Just received mine in the mail, what a treat!! The model ran flawlessly out of the box very smooth. And the horn is just fantastic the reverb sounds like it’s up in the mountains!!

There’s my brief review, a purchase I will never regret.

I really should get one, I have the BLI AC6000 and it is one smooth operator. Quiet as a mouse. Working at GE (where we build the real thing ) I specialize in GE locos on my layout, Alco’s are allowed, no EMD are allowed normally. My SD9 is an exception.

Oh Yes,if you have not yet heard a C30-7 from broadway listen to this sound sample

That’s the one Steve, makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up!! twin speakers face down in the fuel tank, what a noise.

Boy, those Conrail ones sure do look nice. It’s just they’re so expensive…

I got mine on ebay, $170 sometimes you can find some that haven’t sold at auction and pick them up cheaper.

Ken.

I’ve got two of their SD40-2s and have been looking hard at a pair of C30-7s. This posting may have pushed me over the edge. I really like the BLI’s sound system. My SD40-2s added a new level of realism to the layout.

Well, I did it. Went to the train show in Cincinnati and picked up a pair of C30-7’s. Very nice units. They layout is starting to get loud with all of these sound units from BLI and Atlas showing up.

NZRMac, was that the one on trademe?

Good one, I know you’ll enjoy them!!

No I bought mine on ebay I hadn’t really looked on trademe. I’ll keep an eye out.

Sweet man! I just got my two new BLI Hudson’s a few days ago. I cant stop pullin’ the whistle. I also have a SW7 and that little thing has a loud horn. And I know waht you mean, it sounds like it is echoing off the walls or something. Amazing.

And yeah, its getting noisy too on mine. A Cab Forward, 2 Hudsons and the SW7. Its freakin sweet…Man, sound equiped locos are like chips, just cant have one[:D]

The “horn” sound is a Nathan M3.

The M3 is normally a pleasant, “mellow sounding” horn, however, QSI used an excellent recording and the reverb helps give it a very gutsy, “robust” sound in this case.

Not to rain on the parade, but C30-7s used a variety of Nathan and Leslie horns, depending upon which railroad owned these locomotives.

Anyway, as far as quality sound, a big thumbs up on this one. [:D][8D][tup]

Your right about the noise guys great ain’t it!!!

The C30-7 runs much better then the SD40-2 I’m interested to see what the gearboxes are like, it’s very smooth and has a lovely low speed.
