BLI Centipede Locomotive

I was reading about this new locomotive. It stated all wheels have elecrtrical pick up and 6 axles are motorized. It was a maintenance headache in real life and could be the same in model miniature life. I wonder how well it would handle a turnout in model railroading world.

It’s not new, it’s a re-issue.

I imagine someone here bought one or more of these, and will share their experiences.

What size turnout are you thinking of? My guess is NO on a #4, YES on a #6 or larger.

PS: I suppose BLI could have modified the model since the first run.

I was thinking HO as I model and a #6 or #8 turnout. I don’t see it making a #4 which is what I used in my intermodal yard.

I have one from the first run. It will do 22" curves, but it looks out of place on them.

I like mine. Most of my curves are 30" and up and turnouts of #8 and #10 on the main but it will negotiate a #6.

The sound is OK, typical Broadway. I might replace the decoder(s) someday but it is not a high priority.

Pulling power is, as you might expect, quite decent.

True. I bought my first issue of Model Railroad news, being the July issue and saw on BLIs section of locomotives they where coming out with/had for sale showed the upcoming Paragaon 4 HO scale versions of their Baldwin centipede model coming in December of 2021. I’m looking forward too it.
