I bough this back in february and to be honest it has never been one of my best runners. However, recently the model seems to be running strange. The only way to describe it is that the model lurches as it runs. I checked and the rods have not been bent and there isn’t any gunk in the mechanism. Anyone else ever had a similar issue?

Chances are that there is too much side-to-side slop in the drivers and they are binding slightly. (Mine did the same thing, albeit mildly.) I would contact the BLI Service Department via e-mail and describe to them what is happening. They will most likely send you an RA so that you can return your Dreyfuss for repair.
Granted, it may taken them a number of weeks to fix it…but it will run much better after it’s returned. It’s the waiting that’s the hard part.
Again, I would contact BLI and have them fix your issue. My Dreyfuss runs very well now. All I need now are some '40 20th Century passengers cars to pull behind it. Not holding my breathe that MTH will be releasing a set that they announced a couple of years ago.
