BLI E7a problems

Has anyone else not been able to use all of there functions on there boradways???

What function can’t you use?

What operating system are you are using?

From what he told me, Jay says he can use functions 1-4, but nothing above that. He just gets the air pop sound for the rest.

No problem, been able to access 1-12 with a Digitrax Zephyr with DT400 throttle combination.

I use a Digitrax DT400. I have run this engine on other Digitrax Systems and had the same problem. THe other Thing i can’t do is i can’t turn the sound down without changing the CVs

dumb question department re BLI E-7’s I have a pair GN #500 and 512, and can assign both same number (with 1 reversed via CV29 at 34 and 35) and they will run OK. However if I try to consist them either of 2 things will happen: a. I will have all sounds and lights but no motion, or b. motion but no sounds/lights. Also weren’t they originally advertized with full start-up sounds? I turn mine on and they are idling - no start-up sounds. They run great in analog and seem ok in DCC. I am using Prodigy Advance.

Have you try the factory defalt? When I got my E-7 it was not working proper, then I did the factory defalt,& then it started working right.

Try doing a manual reset via the jumper plug if this doesn’t work you may need to reset the command station, not sure about digitraxx. Are you saying you cannot set volume with the manual control knob. You may have engine operating in stand by or disconnect really have had no trouble with mine so not sure if the e7 uses the stand by and disconnect feature like the newer qsi decoders.I will find out though give me a yell tonight on AOL here is a little pic from old 1948 trains mag ad.thought you might like it . I tried resetting it and that didn’t work. If i get time and i remember I’ll BLI tomorrow. ANd Aweseom Article railguyho

I have 3 BLI E7’s and all have start up and shut down sounds. Using F9 (push 2 times for each), you can go to disconnect, idle, and shutdown. Startup is by F6 (push2 times). All other functions work as noted in the furnished book.

EDIT NOTE: I use Digitrax Chief and DT400 throttle.

I’m supposed to be able to do all that i use a Digitrax Cheif and a 400. I’m gonna call BLI soon as i get time

Is your Chief a new one, as in, it came witht he DT400, or is it an older one that came with a DT100 and you added a DT400?

If the latter, there is an early older evision of the firmware in the DCS100 that won’t handle functions higher than F8, even with the DT400. Check on the Digitrax group on Yahoo, I don’t recall the exact version marked on the chip that would indicate this, but the topic just came up the other day - or maybe that was on the QSI group - but I know it’s been talked about on the Digitrax list, so check there if you have an older DCS100.

Correction. I have the Empire Builder. it came with a DT400. I could’t remember what one so i went and got the box. also little off topic but has anyone had problems programing with a DB150? Every now and then mine won’t program addresses.

The Empire Builder/DB150 can NOT access functions above F8. No matter what throttle you have. That’s the problem.
If you don’t run more than 10 locos at once, the easiest way to fix your problem is to aquire a Zephyr. They are avaialble for under $140 from several places. The DB150 you have would still be the booster (have to confugre it as such), and the Zephyr would be your new command station. With the DT400, this gives you access to all functions up to F12, PLUS read-back of the CV’s on the programming track. Plus another throttle, the one built in to the Zephyr console, which is sort of a mini-DT400. And an extra 2.5amps of power if you need it.
If you need to run more than 10 at once, you’re looking at stepping up to a Chief, either by adding JUST the DCS100, or, if you need an extra throttle anyway, getting the Super Chief set. If you intend to get the extra throttle, the set is cheaper than buying both separately.
