Just got a new E8 from BLI DCC with factory sound. The layout is DC at this time but shortly will be moving to DCC. The loco is very sluggish and when it does run it tends to surge forward at times. Sound system seems to have a few bugs in it too. I was expecting much better preformance from Broadway. Anyone else had these sorts of problems? Any recommended solutions?
Thanks
It WILL be sluggish on DC, the first 7-9 volts is eaten up by the sound electronics, leaving 3-5 volts to run the motor at a typical DC throttle’s 12 volts. No fix, if it wasn;t like this, the loco would be flying down the track before the sound started up. It will behave much better on DCC.

Yes, get a DCC controller. Many DCC locos that are dual mode do not run very well on DC.

Page 8 of the manual that it came with shows a plug you can configure to send track power directly to the motor. The engine will run at a lower voltage but the sound will lag behind.
