Bli f3, just needing some guidance

Well, I’m new in town and looking get into this hobby. My interest has been brewing for over 50 years. As a young guy I use to visit Chattanooga by train. It was so much fun. I have found the engine that took use there, the F3, color and all. The only brand I could find it in was BLI which from what have read is not to good. I don’t minding spending the bucks, so money is not an object as long as I get quality. For now, deisel in N scale is what I am looking at. So….suggestions please.

You might want to re-post this under the Model Railroader category.

Grahng, welcome to the forum! I’ll echo Mike’s suggestion to repost your comment in the Model Railroader section.

I also have N scale, but don’t have an F3. In my opinion, Kato makes the best N scale locomotives. They had some F3s, but they are out of stock:

I know they have F7s, which in N scale are pretty similar:

Again, I’m not real knowledgeable about this, and I think some other posters on the Model Railroader forum could give you a better answer.

Thank you. Much appreciated.:us:

I only have experience with BLI HO engines, but I found them to be very good. BTW, which railroad is the F3 you’re looking for - Amtrak or an earlier line?

Yep, the road name that you are looking for would help.

Yes, before Amtrak. Use to visit my grand parents by train. Daytona to Chattanooga, 1950’s. Due space, looking at N scale.

Just started in this hobby, so still learning. Sorry about that.

So, notwithstanding, what are the top three kato deisels?
I may ask stupid questions but how else can I learn.
Same question for steamers.
