I would like to publicly thank Mark Rice from BLI for his fast and courteous service.
I sent an e-mail to BLI regarding a deffective “chuff sensor” on my P2 J1e Hudson, whitin 2 days I had a reply from Mark Rice and a couple of days later the part was shipped.
Now thats what I call excellent customer service.
I would not hesitate to buy or recommend other BLI products.
A club member here has the same problem with one. BLI sent him a replacement but he hasn’t gotten around to installing it yet. The chuff was very sporadic because of the defect. At least BLI has replacements available. Some other manufacturers don’t have replacement parts, won’t acknowledge the problem, or expect the end user to buy the replacement…
I’ve only had one occasion to deal with BLI’s customer service when a decoder went bad in a brand new GE AC6000. They replaced the decoder and paid shipping both ways.
I concur. BLI, Athearn, Bessemer hobbies, and Walthers customer service is excellent. I kind of wish I never had to find out but I am glad they have come through for me every time.
My Blueline J1 had a missing tooth on an idler gear and I received a replacement in less than a weeks time. My I1sa had a pinched wire to the rear tender truck and Matthew wanted to send me a replacement truck But I replaced the wire instead.
Athearn sent me replacement axle gears for some locos that had cracked ones for free.
Walthers replaced a decal set for a structure that my dog got a hold of. I think she liked the taste of them. I asked to purchase them but they sent them for free.
Bessemer Hobbies. I purchased 5 Bowser hoppers and received 6 in the mail. I immediately Emailed him telling him to expect a check for the extra hopper and received a reply telling me to forget the check and tell my friends about them. They are wonderful to deal with and the prices are better than most others.
… same here. I had a malformed front truck on one of my new Hudsons. All it took was a single email. A day later I received a response and the new truck arrived two days later. No charge, no problem. Just great service.
What BLI QC is lacking there customer services makes up for! I have had 11 of there engines, still have 9 ( 3 where replaced) and all but 4 have been repaired by them or my self. But, they never give me any grief and either repair or send the parts for free.
I would like to second that. I got a hudson on ebay 2 weeks ago. I think it was one of their grab bag ones because it was missing all the electronics in the tender, and missing the rear tender truck assembly. Mark replied in a couple days and asked what I needed. I told him and he said they could do the truck but no longer had the electronics. I said that is fine how much do I owe you(previously explaining to him I bought it used from ebay). He said no charge it is under warranty. I asked again if I coulp pay something he said no but thanks.
Thank you Mark Rice!!![bow]

By the way I put an atlas decoder(for now until I can afford a qsi or tsunami) and it runs sweet. A little motor noise but I associate that with the decoder because it was silent in dc.
I have received excellent customer service also from BLI and would recommend them highly. No product is perfect and sometimes you need service and they were there for me.
