I recently purchased a BLI hi-rail truck with DCC. At best, it runs a few inches before stopping. Are there any hints for more successful operation?
Clean track and wheels. It is the ultimate in short wheelbase and limited pick up, it needs things to be spotless.
Not sure what options the decoder has, but it’s probably worth a hard reset to see if its a bad CV or something else/ Did it ever run well?
Assuming it’s near-new, after that checking with BLI is probably the way to go. Good customer service was my experience on a couple of minor issues.
I saw the video of one of the sedan hi-railers running and it seemed to run quite well, so if it’s not performing up to snuff, I’d follow up with BLI.
I have one of the sedan models…was kind of hucky-bucky right out of the box…pulled off the top and lubed the gearset with a little LaBelle grease and cleaned the wipers with alcohol. It made a big difference. Clean track a must…run on speed step 14 and don’t expect good slow speed operation. Speed step 3-5 to keep things rolling. Amazing how they cram the motor and decoder in such a small package. Switches are a problem unless you powered the frog. Enjoy seeing this little bugger roll around! Prototypically you could roll out at a derailment and wait for the MOW crane to show up…
Enjoy…Bob
