BLI Hudson Draw Bar

Consider yourself lucky because others of us have not been so fortunate.

Back in the Jurassic when DC ruled, wireless draw bars were quite popular.

As, I believe, were weird proprietary drawbar couplings that could break unpredictably and were difficult to fix or impossible to get parts for.

Even older locomotives could be a ‘wireless drawbar’ problem. My beloved Mantua Pacific had a fiber drawbar, which would break if a kid looked at it a bit too intently the wrong way. When I was little, I had no idea that you could change this yourself … or substitute something on a more durable nature that didn’t have an exorbitant profit margin already baked in. Oh, to have known then what I know now!
