BLI input please

I have (1) BLI Hudson and the drivers do not float (no spring action to step over slight problems) like my spectrum and other engines due. Has anybody else experience this? This turkey HATES Atlas diamonds!!!

I hate Atlas diamonds, too. Whether steamer or diesel, locomotives crossing over them also sounds like an explosion. After attempting to file and chisle down the plasitc insulator on an Atlas 60-degree crossing, I gave up on it and installed a Shinohara/Walthers crossing. Still slightly noisy but MUCH better!

George, on your first issue: Are you talking about the drivers or the front trucks? I don’t think I’ve ever seen any drivers with springs in them.

Grrr. My reponses from last night do not show up today!!

Check to see that your leading truck is not inverted…are the "brakes’ lowermost on the axles? If not, invert the truck.

Check the gauges of the wheels and the track.

Maybe the wheels are bridgin two different polarities when they cross over the frog. Use a dab of clear nail polish on the frog points.

Tom the "SPRING in the drivers is not a spring it is more of a SLOPPY fit that allows the drivers a minimum of up and down motion to allow the drivers to step over the little bumps at rail joints and such.
IF walthers made a 12 1/2 deg diamond I guarentee that is what I would use. Attla QC is a little off on some of their track products.
Curing the SHALLOW frog problems with a modified Dremel wheel. Gets a little time wasting to have to check depths of frogs on EVERY turnout and diamond then finding 1/3 of them NOT in NMRA spec. Oh well, I just keep saying

George, i have had similar probs with my BLI Hudson - it is the loco I use to “find” travk problems or did until I got a BLI 2-6-6-4 no It’s my “most picky runner”. I have 4 BLI locos have had to send 2 back to the “factory” (whic handled 'em nicely and they now are fine) and 1 of 'em is my BEST running loco, so go figure. Those Chinse don’t have the best quality control I’m afraid. Also some of my “track problems” can be attributed to have layout in my garage (carpeted and a/c but…) in Jacksonville (on the good side of the river!!!)
