BLI NW2, how difficult to cure de-railing and fixing the wrong direction problem

just waiting for a reply / advice from BLI to cure the wrong direction syndrome which my new NW2 has got, (i have every confidence in BLI) is it a simple fix & have you done one[?] When it’s on the track the trucks are tight and the 3rd axle from front is raised slightley which causes derailments, is it easy to put more flexible wires to the trucks. I don’t want to ruin my new loco,
if i lived on your side of the pond i would return it but the cost of shipping from the UK is expensive
on the positive side
the sound system on this model is great and makes a big /huge difference and i am looking forward to getting my BLI M1A

My switcher does run opposite to the throttle. I plan to have the LHS reverse the DCC setting that determines direction on my next visit.

I have yet to encounter that derailing problem but will look for it on the LHS layout. If there is any derailing to be done it will happen on that layout, my bench trackwork is just too smooth.

I am on good old DC so can’t re set the CV, it can only be stiff wires mentioned in other forums causing the derailments, you can just see the truck axle lifting slightley when it sets off [:)]

I think I had the same derailing problem with my BLI NW2 out of the box (i.e., the front wheel would slip over the track in curves because the truck was riding too high on the right side). I just pulled this side of the truck down with my hand using moderate force and that seemed to straighten out the orientation. Didn’t have any problems running it after that.

had a go at that (gentley though) and it runs OK now without coming off. just received the instructions from BLI regarding a quick re-wire job, thanks to Kathy and Jimmy at BLI
procedure for re wire below
Rewiring procedure:

  1. Removing the shell;

Carefully remove the two handrails at the base of the cab that are attached to the frame

Squeeze tabs (4 of them – two in front, two in back) just over the trucks – pull up shell.

  1. Unplug red plug that connects shell to circuit board.

  2. Unscrew the 4 board mounting screws (Philips head)

  3. Under the circuit board you will see three plugs – 2 black and one blue.

  4. Pull both black plugs only (male)

  5. On one side of the plugs you will find two “tabs”.
    Lift tab with exacto type knife and the wires will slide out. Reverse both wires on both plugs (that’s four wires) and then plug them (male) back into the sockets (female)

  6. Screw 4 board mounting screws back in place.

  7. Plug red plug to circuit board

Install the shell over the chassis then reinstall the handrails
