BLI Paragon 2 Question regarding sound with DC operation

Hi!

I just got a BLI Paragon 2 IC sw7 loco - which comes with DCC & sound. I went to test it on a DC powered track with a Quantum Engineer control attached, and only the motor sounds work, but not the bell/whistle, and others. My first thought is that the Quantum Engineer will not operate the Paragon 2 locos as they do the original Paragons… Anyone shed some light on this?

By the way, I’m building a DCC layout but am not yet in a position to test with it.

Hi!

Yes, the Paragon and Paragon2 locos do use a different sound system - which BLI finally verified. The good news is I just hooked up the DCC, so my like new Quantum Engineer is no longer needed and will soon be an Ebay candidate.
