BLI SD40-2 Warning

For anyone who has bought this locomotive,

When removing and especially replacing the shell be careful. There is a circuit board attached to the very end which tends to snag on the shell and after a couple of cycles mine broke a wire that I can’t repair. I will be contacting BLI about obtaining a replacement but for now my loco is dead.

The reason I was pulling the shell so often was that I noticed it didn’t sit all the way down on the chassis which caused a warping when installing the couplers.

So far I have refrained from being too critical of this BLI product but being that it is a $300 model is it too much to ask that it fits together correctly?

All I know is they are making Rivorassi look cheap.

For a 300 dollar peice it should have

  1. Correct sound

  2. Correct detail

For 200 bucks I could put soundtraxx in a kato SD-40-2 and be much happier.

I noticed the same thing with mine, I tucked the wire in before it broke and have no furthur trouble so far!!

I paided $210 from Tony’s 6 months ago, are yours a new batch?

Ken.

Has anybody bought the AC6000CW yet?

I was thinking about getting one but where would i run it. HO and N aren’t compatible. So bad luck for me.
