Now of course I would have prefered my brand new BLI PRR T1 to work right straight out of the box, but having shipped it to the BLI service department on Friday the 15th June with an expected repair time of 4 - 5 weeks not including time in transit I was very happy to receive it back, all fixed yesterday, the 29th June. So 8 days in transit, only 1 week to fix, thank you BLI service!
They have worked on several of my locomotives and I have always been pleased with the quality of the repairs, cost and a quicker than advertised turn around.
Thats odd…my PCM Y6b was sent back for repair for the junk decoder (Loksound) back in 2006 they had it for 14 weeks BEFORE they got around to fix it and it sat on a shelf for another 4 weeks before they sent it back to me.
Then in 2010 I bought a Q2 that has a shorted out decoder…called them up and they said they would ship out to me a new decoder right away…week later another call to them and they said it would be two weeks until they got replacement decoders…also never received a parts diagram or operating instructions.
I recently sent a Paragon2 decoder back to them for reprogramming because of an irritating noise that was in the first version (turbo whine) that they removed in subsequent versions after customer complaints about the sound.
Their standard email notification of having received the decoder indicated a 4 to 5 week turnaround time, but I got it back within two weeks.
I think their 4 to 5 weeks turnaround is a fudge factor in case they don’t have the necessary parts.
The GE AC6000 sounds are now much better with the new files loaded into the decoder, and it was reprogrammed free under warranty. They even paid the return shipping.
