I got a new BLI stock car with cattle sounds for Christmas, and it doesn’t work. It just kinda sits there like a dead duck, but there is a light inside (very faint, red) No suond at all, and I’m running on DCC. Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with them, and if there are any magic tricks to fixing it. I tried the resetting trick with the magnetic wand, but it didn’t reset.
Federal law prohibits running a stock car for more than 24 hours with out allowing the animals to get out and walk around on their way to their demise. Something about cruel and inhumane treatment. I guess the end of the journey is. So be sure and stop the car at least once a day.
Hey guys, I have been pouring lots of water and food into it, but it seems to run back out the slats on the side!
No, really I haven’t done much to it, except try to reset it with the magnetic wand. It is picking up power though, because it has this neat little red glow coming out of it.
I’ll try addressing it and F8’ing it, and if that doesn’t work I might have to place a call to BLI.
Greg–sincerely hope you can get it working–the darn car is HILARIOUS!! I put one at the beginning of my cattle train and ran it for the family when they were down for Christmas, and they were all falling over laughing. I run DC, so I can’t help you with any decoder programming, but I did have to reset mine right at first with the wand. On DC, once you get it revved up, it’ll even moo when the train’s stopped, as long as there’s some power running in the rails.
Darn thing just cracks me up!

I hate to ask the obvious question, but have you moved the car at all or just left it standing still? The car is designed to make noise once it detects movement and then for a while after it stops. If you are running DCC, you must make sure you have the correct address, and that the address is active on the throttle you are using. After aquiring the correct address, you must make sure the car isn’t muted which is the function 8 key. You may also want to check the volume level by using the magic wand. It is possible to turn the volume down below an audible level. After you know you have the correct address, and that the car isn’t just muted or volume too low, I would give BLI a call.
I have both a hog and cattle car and they work great on DCC so give a couple of different things a try before giving up.
Yeah, I have tried rolling it several laps around the layout, but to no avail. I haven’t tried addressing it yet though, that might be a project for this afternoon. If it knows that it is address 03, it very well could be that F8 is on, because that’s what I use for programming new locos.
