Hey guys. Hope your all enjoying the weekend. I go back to school tomorrow after my 2 week break[:(].
Anyway, I was wondering, is there any place where I could get EMD locomotive blueprints? I’m specificaly looking for an FP45. Any suggestions?

I’ve been looking for a site like that for two years and haven’t come with one yet. I’m looking for drawings of UP’s number 1, a streamlined steam turbine, but no luck.
Try out some various historical societies. Jonathon…try BN’s or the CBQ’s, as I have some pictures of the FP45’s when they ran thru my hometown.
Emeraldisle…you might try the UP Historical society. See if they have any. My guess is that you might pay a little bit to get copies however.

There were drawings in both MR & RMC:
EMD FP-45 3600hp diesel
Railroad Model Craftsman, November 1968 page 26
( DIESEL, DRAWING, EMD, FP45, “TRAGER, GEORGE T.”, ENGINE, LOCOMOTIVE, PROTOTYPE, RMC )
EMD’s FP45 locomotives
Model Railroader, February 1972 page 47
( “BREWSTER, ALLEN J.”, DIESEL, DRAWING, FP45, ENGINE, LOCOMOTIVE, PROTOTYPE, MR )
Also you can download a real nice set of drawing(1/25th scale) from:

I hope this helps!

Jim, I’ve seen that FP45 many times as I have painted a bunch of them. What I’m looking for is a blueprint with dimensions.
Wouldn’t the RMC article Jim suggested be useful? I don’t think I’ve seen any published diesel plans in the hobby press that are dimensioned; they are done to a scale and you can take the measurements with a scale rule. Such drawings are considered plans, if you really want a “blueprint” - a factory dimensioned drawing, you may have to keep on searching.

Yes Bob, I am looking for a blueprint or drawing with dimensions.
