Bluford Shops

Interested in information on the above manufacturer. Do they produce kits, or ready to run?

According to their website, it appears that they are RTR. At least the transfer caboose and hopper indicate that.

Tom

O.K. thanks, just another manufacturer I have no interest in.

I don’t know how helpful this link may be to you, but it purportedly lists every manufacturer of HO scale freight car kits.

The list includes the Bluford Shops as a manufacturer of freight car kits.

Bluford Shops is located in Illinois. It may be worth a call to them to ascertain the nature of their freight car assemblies, kit or RTR.

Rich

Rich, Although the website you posted, states Bluford is a manufacturer of Freight Car Kits, what Bluford actually states about itself, is it is a manufacturer of RTR cars. From the short time I visited their website, it appears they only make RTR Transfer Cabooses in HO. They appear to make more N-Scale equipment and whether these are kits; or, RTR, doesn’t much matter to me, being an HO modeler.

The term “Kit” has seems to be in the process of loosing its’ meaning. That is to bad, for those of us who are only interested in building models and not buying them ready made. It means more investigation is necessary.

ahh, that’s a shame. I knew you had an interest in finding manufacturers of freight car kits, so when I came across that link, I thought that I would post it for your consideration. What appeared to be a useful link may be nothing more than misleading. Too bad.

Rich

No big deal! Had they been a manufacturer of “KITS”, I would have added them to my list of kit manufacturers I have posted here.

For laughs, if nothing else, I sent an email to Bluford Shops asking if their freight cars are kits or RTR.

I will let you know what they say, assuming they respond.

Rich

I received an email reply earlier this evening from Steve at Bluford Shops.

He indicated that all of their freight cars are RTR, no kits.
