BLW DEMONSTRATOR COLORS

IF I’M GOING ABOUT THIS THE WRONG WAY, PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME; I’M TRYING TO FIND OUT HOW TO DETERMINE THE CORRECT SHADES OF BLUE AND CREAM TO PAINT MY BALDWIN CENTIPEDES IN THE DEMONSTRATOR COLORS TO RUN ON MY U.P. BASED LAYOUT. THANKS FOR YOU HELP.

Find out where the Baldwin builder’s photo collection (saved by HL Broadbent) is, and see if there are color images of the Centipede demos in that collection. I want to say this collection is with the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, but that’s just a guess.

Thank you, I’ll try that route.

Sure thing. The other possibility (if there are no color photos of the demos) is that some BLW paperwork noting the specific paint/colors used may have survived, but I admit that’s a long shot!

The H.L. Broadbelt collection is at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. I have browsed their website, but requests for research have to be snail-mailed, so that is my next step. Also, I’ve searched ‘Baldwin Builder’s Photos’, and found several sites that claim to have some info, so I’ll try those too. So far, Mark Landry from ‘The Baldwin Diesel Zone’ has sent me 3 b&w shots, and a cover shot from ‘The Diesels from Eddystone’ with an artists rendering of what I’m looking for, but I’m hoping to find something with a (possibly) more accurate color match.
