Have a look at Athearns’ recent parts listings. They have(or will have) a larger all-weather window. I noticed this right after I cut two Proto 2000 windows to make the longer window I needed on my UP S2 switcher
Looks like MLE is not availible now, Atheran parts looks great but shipping and tax is to much ($150 for four sets). The Walthers search by photo is very helpful but had no results.
I will go with the “home made” solution (thanks binder001!) and build my own from LifeLike windows.
Thanks again for your help.
… same time later …
Old eyes and rusty fingers are not made for precise made small windows Have two from Athearn on order. €40 plus €40 shipping and tax …
Before Detail Associates offered their all-weather cab windows, I created my own from scraps of Plexiglas, as shown on this Atlas SD35:
After cutting and filing it to shape, the outline of the windows’ glass areas were scribed with a knife, then the “metal” parts were painted using a small brush.
The engineer could open the side window and still had weather protection while looking along the train. You will find it mostly in the North with rough weather.
