I was reading a bit of Issue 93 of Extra Twenty-two Hundred South, and found that there was a rebuilt SD9, that was simply just… an SD9…
One example of this that I can think from the top of my head is POTB 6139, which was rebuilt from a B&O SD9.
POTB 6139 was rebuilt from B&O 1831 on November 3, 1989 by Livingston Rebuild Center (LRC).
Is this what BN classed the LRC SD9s as, just “SD9” or was it something like “SD9R” or “SD9L” or even “SD9LRC”, because if it’s just “SD9”, then POTB 6139 would fall into the category of “Rebuilt EMD SD9”.
If you think about it, it seems like a very interesting question, at first I thought these were just normal SD9s, but then I went onto discovering that they were rebuilds as I went deeper into their history.
If you want my source on that, my source is page 10 of Issue 93 from Extra Twenty-two Hundred South.
