I was rather elated to catch one of the new BNSF ES44’s down here in the deep south…but was taken surprise when this one showed up in regular H2 paint. (I was hoping for the new scheme) Has BNSF seen the error of its ways and reverted back to the old tried-n-true scheme?

I was woundering myself[%-)]. I mean did BNSF deside not to go with the H3’s instead?

I think we’ve actually got an H3 and an H4 (or H3.5) out. The new paint scheme has been done in both black and yellow lettering. This heritage paint is starting to take the same route as the CSX YNSomething schemes! Still, I’m amazed that one of these new ES44’s made it into H2 paint when its brethren came out in H3…

Trains magazine stated that BNSF was supposed to have a decision on what version they would go with. Does anyone know of the answer? I personally like the black or green version.

BNSF made a decision in April sometime. The highest numbered engines I’ve personally seen so far without the H3 scheme is 7737 and 7738.I saw a picture at railpicture’s website recently of BNSF 7748 in the new H3 scheme.
