BNSF/Canadian Pacific

Is it common to see BNSF and CP running power together?

I am sure it is in parts of the US and Canada it is. Even out here I will occasionally see CN and CP locomotives. NS and CSXT are even more common.

From what I have observed on BNSF over the years CP Rail Run thru isn’t common at all out where I am, could be different for other places.

BNSF power runs through onto CP Rail at St. Paul, MN with coal trains for the powerplant at Columbia, WI on an almost daily basis. In turn CP Rail will give BNSF a locomotive to balance out the horsepower-hours. I noted on another forum that a Soo Line SD60 was on a BNSF train in California.

Where I live, Sioux Falls, South Dakota is a BNSF town. I have seen Canadian Pacific units included in the lashups of BNSF trains in this area, especially Garretson, which is only about 20 miles northeast of here. And I recently had seen a CSX GE locomotive in our local yard. I guess just about anything is possible or plausible.
