I am retiring from the Air Force in less than 6 months and I am very much excited to take on a new defining lifestyle change. I am trying to glean as much information from the old heads who have been railroading at least two to three years or longer. What I would like to know is how is a typical day in conductor school? Also after school what is a typical work day like? Is the stigma still out there that conductors can and do get furloughed? Because I am looking for a stable job with stable pay.
I am also curious about how BNSF conducts strength testing on their personnel? I know that I am asking alot of questions here, so i do appreciate any and all help. I also have questions regarding the interview and testing, if anyone can shead some light on the process this would be very helpful. I know to be safety minded when it comes to the interview as while as in the job, I have done that my entire 20+ years in the military so this is not a problem. What other important elements are they looking for?
Thanks,
Ez
