BNSF details Illinois and Iowa capital investments
Minor correction. BNSF is not replacing its bridge over the Missouri River between Plattsmouth, Neb., and Pacific Jct., Iowa, but rather, adding a second bridge.
The BNSF existing bridge (Built 1903 on 1880 stone piers from original structure) will stay in place. The new second single-track bridge at Plattsmouth, Nebraska/Pacific Jct., Iowa has
completed pier work on both sides of the Missouri River.
Construction has begun on the two remaining submerged piers in the river and should be completed in the fall.
