BNSF hi-rail driver with cell-phone in hand

While driving back to work through Lawndale, CA, a BNSF hi-rail came by, heading “south”. The driver had a cell-phone (or similar communications gadget) next to his ear the entire time.

He was very attentive at the crossings though, stopping at each one to let motorists, pedestrians, etc. cross in front of him. (The BNSF hi-rail did not activate the crossing signals). His behavior is noticeably different from some people I see “on the road”, who drive while yakking and come close to sideswiping or colliding with other vehicles[:0]

Say hello to MISTER Parnell for me!

Actually I would have gotten out to wave, but he was zipping along and I could just keep up to the 172nd St crossing. Trying to get away from the foamer following along[:P]

Wait until all 6’-5" 330# of him gets outta 'da truck…Then say Hi! to “Da Killa” !—Spikes used to jump into the ties out of fear of getting hit with his track hammer…Second Generation ATSF (worked with both father and son)…very , very good people!

Mookie thinks I’m a big kid, but standing next to Leon I’m small change. Harbor Sub has been his territory for several years now.
