Was the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad going through Oklahoma City formerly the Burlington Northern railroad or Atchinson Topeka Santa Fe railroad?
AND…
The ATSF used its own pax station, located on the east side of downtown by the convention center and currently (sort of) used by ATK for the Heartland Flyer.
The SLSF (and RI) used Union Station, which is still in existence (but partially threatened) and is located on the south side of downtown. It was restored and was (and may still be) used as offices for the OKC Dept of Parking and Transit (or whatever they are calling themselves these days.)
The Katy yard and depot was in Bricktown and is generally long gone.
Hope this helps.
Is that fairly new hump yard on the former ATSF south of town still in operation?
Flynn Yard, located about five miles south of downtown OKC in Moore, is still in operation but I believe is is now flat switched. The May 3, 1999 F5 tornado which blasted OKC, passed within about three miles of the yard that day.
Thanks! Interesting.
