BNSF North Dakota main line reopens following derailment
Damned grain trans! First they derail an oil train at Casselton, ND, and now this! Put all the grain on the highways! It would only take 250 tractor-trailers, double-bottom, to equal a unit-train of grain. The ‘highway lobby’, and the Teamsters would love it. Welcome to “Pothole, ND”!
One must wonder about the maintenance and inspections given to the grain cars by their owners.
Naw, double track the whole line. Leave enough space for the grain trains to derail.
Double tracking is desperately needed for several hundred miles west of Minot. East of Minot, BNSF has two main lines they can use, but west is a nightmare of single track congestion. The east line that goes through Devil’s Lake is currently being rebuilt mostly with tax dollars. Now, BNSF can return the favor by double tracking west of Minot.
