BNSF offers $100,000 reward in employee death

Only if crime against employees on the clock increase, RR wont allow to carry a gun. Against GCOR. I hope they find that guy! I believe we should carry guns at work if the area is high on crime, but insurance companies wont have it!!

All too common and frequent, these killings…multiple gunshots…
My comment has to do with:
Why is there a known “person of interest”?
and who is the “person”?
What is the importance of “found dead on Goodrick Dr.”
The statement, “last seen by co-workers”…returning from a job in the field?
“returning from a job in the field to a BNSF facility,”
This ain’t railroad lingo…
and this formerly SP, now UP, track never had another road’s, read Santa Fe, “facility” in Tehachapi, nor their employees who weren’t train crew members based there, or doing any work.
“Facility,”…that’s not railroad slang.
During my shortened journalism college education, I learned that the 5 W’s (Who, What, Where…) were capped by the “Why and How.”

Perhaps BNSF employees who are in a situation where they might be a target of a crime should be allowed to carry a gun provided they obtain a concealed carry permit and pass a fire arm safety course. If Mr. Limon had been armed, he would have at least had a chance.

This is not a high crime area. The best way to catch the perpetrator is to investigate. The reward offer may bring more leads. It is an open drive with light industry and the railroad.

PS Here is a local article. Railfans who have visited the Tehachapi area there is video in the piece of a person the Sheriffs Dept would like to identify.

Multiple gunshots makes me wonder if it was something personal, rather than arobbery gone bad or something similar.

Hop they catch the crook.

Sounds like RR police need to be assigned to work crews in trouble areas?

Crook? Murderer!

FXC, facility is a very common RR term. Although this is UP RR between Bakersfield and Mojave BNSF has trackage rights and could very well have a facility (building) located in Tehachapi from where they work out of to provide service to their trains.

I hope they figure this out. I like going to Tehachapi, but this is kinda creepy.

Jack,
Thanks for the info; my comment was about the past, not what may exist now.
Historically, ATSF paid a percentage portion of the M of W costs but did not do any work or supply material.
And, granted that “facility” is common, but in the lexicon of Train & Engine crews, it’s not.
Roundhouse, engine terminal, service track, shops…but not “locomotive supplying and storage facility.”
Yard, terminal, station, depot…but not “train and freight car originating and terminating facility.”
Again, Jack, thanks for the info. Might have been a good trip for you to ride along when, as Road Foreman Of Engines, I was making qualifying trips between LA and Bakersfield.
My mountain qualifications were Cuesta (SLO), Donner, Altamont, the NWP American Canyon (shakey, shakey, yesterday) connection branch. Suisun- Lombard-Schellville)

Let’s hope they catch whoever did it. And also hope that the RRs don’t overreact by making he area a fenced off place where aw abiding enthusiasts are chased off.

May God be with the family.
