hey guys i use to own a HO BNSF SD75M in the BNSF Warbonnet scheme… and i am wondering if any of the the Locos have been repainted into either H1, H2, or H3 scheme, also is there any left of the Santa Fe Lettered SD75s or have they all been patched to BNSF? thanks in advance.
All 51 ex-ATSF SD75M’s were patched in 1998. I think about 9 have been painted into H2, It’s very suprising that BNSF has been repainting the SD75M’s that they ordered in warbonnet instead of the ex-ATSF’s
If BNSF repaints any of the remaining warbonnet SD75s they will probably be wearing the new H3 with the “Swoosh” logo. So far the only pre-GEVO engines repainted into H3/H4 are Dash9s and SD40-2s.
there is no H4 (the warbonnet does not count) - so there are some SD40-2’s painted like the locomotive in my signature(H3) so my Athearn AC4400 H3 isn’t prototypical?
Some what off topic but gonna do it anyway. Yesterdat I saw a 65’ (give or take) open gondola with a fresh coat of black paint with the BNSF and “swoosh” logo in white. Looked pretty good for a gondola.
Even Trains had initially called it the ‘swoosh’ logo, but they also include the proper name. Most people are using the term if they don’t know because the Nike trademark is called a ‘swoosh,’ and there are some similarities between the two, mostly in the lettering following the line of the geometric shape. I’ve heard “Heritage 3,” but didn’t know that the graphic is called the ‘power bar.’ Is that a term from graphic design, or is that a term that the BNSF marketing folks came up with?
Heritage 3 is Heritage 2 with the new logo and Heritage 4 is Heritage 1 with the new logo. I guess when the first SD40-2 was painted people started calling it H4 but really it’s H3 even if wide cabs and standard cabs get a different design.
BNSF never really gave it a name. They just refer to themselves as the BNSF Railway and have no name for the paint scheme. BNSF left it up to anybody to just call it what they wanted.
Talked to a guy who works at the Tulsa Cherokee yard and he said that they are calling it the “new look”. I would venture to guess there is not an official name for it since no one person calls it the same thing.
joegreen i really don’t think there is a H4 --H3 has very few similarities w/ H2 although some are H3 w/ H2 decals- as for the H1 w/ new logo- i doubt they’d paint any like that (unless a few experimental ones)---------------------------------------------------------- i’m so sick of you guys calling it a “swoosh” we’ve told you it’s either H3 , the powerbar, or the new image- BNSFrailfan you agree w/ me don’t you
I really don’t care if anybody insults UP, I’m not insulting BNSF, I don’t recall BNSF putting out a Press Release saying it was a power bar. Maybe they did, but it’s nicer than calling them Bigger Now Same F****** Railway. I’m not insulting them in my book, you’re not insulting UP in my book, why can’t railfans casually poke fun at each other’s favorites, this little arguement is retarded. BNSF and UP are both good railroads, and everybody has to have fun poked at them now and then, and people should’t take offense to it.
your right --we shouldn’t be arguing like this- I like BNSF and you like UP --it’s as simple as that http://www.bnsf.com/employees/communications/bnsf_today/2005/01/2005-01-24-b2.html - they don’t give the logo a name but in keeping w/ the other paint schemes it was called HERITAGE 3 (by railfans at least) i just think Heritage 3 sounds more intelligant than “swoosh”- well whatever you want to call it it’s definitly the best BNSF paint in my book
