Strange. Why? Don’t we (BNSF) have rotary plows, 927558, Lincoln, NB and 972559, Alliance, KS available to help? Sounds like a repeat of last year. Answer this shareholder, Carl. Please…
The Zephyr and Chief don’t normally make most of the stops between Galesburg and Chicago. Did they make these stops to accommodate the displaced passengers or were those passengers out of luck like those to/from Macomb and Quincy?
If they closed portions of the line between Galesburg and Aurora, how did the Southwest Chief and California Zephyr get through? It sounds more like they closed line between Galesburg and Quincy.
As noted in the Tuesday article, the line was open by Monday afternoon and the rest of the day’s trains operated. The morning trains probably could have run, but I understand them not wanting to repeat what happened last year. Bringing in a rotary would have required thinking about it in advance (make what you will of that statement).
