So it starts out with what looks like a manifest putting 14 cars on the ground about 10 miles east of Flagstaff this morning, a little after six. No injuries, no hazmat, but both tracks taken out. Amtrak #4 did not get by the wreck, so ATK had to call out the busses to get the passengers to a meet point, probably ABQ. It looks like the #3 trainset got turned at ABQ and is now #4 and 10 hours late, it looks like the 3 passengers just got to FLG and are now boarding at just before midnight MST. Since the ATK locos are not turned, a BNSF unit is on the lead to get them headed west about 3.5 hours late, or so. Today’s EB #4 left on time, at least.
I suspect the Maalox machine at ATK and BNSF DS centers is running low.
The wreck occured at Angell, 21 miles east of downtown Flagstaff. A total of 29 cars of train TULBAR derailed. Hulcher responded to the wreck. Main 2 is expected to be open this morning with Main 1 open later today.
On Monday, October 14, 2019 at 7:30 a.m. CT, we received a preliminary report of a train derailment near Darling, Arizona which has affected both main tracks. Darling, AZ is approximately 15 miles east of Flagstaff, AZ. The current estimated time for opening main track one is October 15, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. CT. The current estimated time for opening main track two is October 15, 2019 at 10:00 p.m. CT.
BNSF Update, Tuesday.
EDIT: At about 11:00 AM MST, parade of westbounds started coming through FLG at about 12-15 minute intervals. ATK tracker still shows EB #4 holding east of station in FLG.
