Very nice description of a locomotive and train at

http://www.bnsf.com/tour/

What I question is the claim that the locomotive has 210,000 parts. That is a lot! I mean even a 20 cylinder diesel may have 100 parts/cylinder which only accounts for 2,000 parts. Can anyone figure how to get the parts count for a locomotive up to 210,000?

I suspect if you count every individual thing as a “part” - every screw, bolt, nut, etc. - it’s probably a correct count.
