Boardman lauds Virginia governor for Roanoke service decision
This new service should be extended to Radford VA. The potential ridership in Montgomery County is greater than Roanoke. With over 50 thousand university studends and the gernerl population, the train would do well.
The same trainset could be utilized and turned for next day service back to DC and NY.
Smart move!
I visited Roanoke last October and talked with RR people there. They said the problem is not lack of state support, but rather Norfolk Southern’s demand for an absurdly large $ amount to “improve” the track between Lynchburg and Roanoke. There’s nothing in this article about that.
